Rekha Chatterjee is a counsellor at the MSSK centre in Bhankrota, where she offers psychosocial support to women facing violence, while also contributing to advocacy, communication, and educational support for children. She holds a Master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Rajasthan. Her work is rooted in empathy, listening, and creating space for people to reflect and speak. With over two decades of experience in development sector and media, Rekha brings a diverse background that includes writing, documentation, field engagement and communication.

She began her journey with Vishakha through its pilot Safe City project, where she conducted interviews to understand how women experience public spaces and facilities like toilets. Over the years, she has also contributed to UNICEF-supported awareness programmes in urban areas, including immunisation campaigns in kacchi bastis. With AASHA, she worked on adolescent awareness and community mobilisation, and at Prayatna, she served as a documentation officer, preparing reports and case studies. She has also worked as a content writer in the IT sector. Rekha has been associated with platforms like Vividha and Mega Bharat, and has written several articles and features for newspapers.

Cultural expression is close to her heart. She finds inspiration in theatre, films, and everyday narratives that reflect lived realities. Known for her thoughtful and steady presence, Rekha brings warmth, clarity, and a creative spirit to all aspects of her work.

She describes her role not just as a profession, but as something she loves and has grown into a space that allows her to listen deeply and contribute meaningfully.
