Humko kahni apni baat

Our work is rooted in the understanding that the voices and lived experiences of adolescent girls are largely absent from community discussions, institutional programmes, and government initiatives. Without girls’ participation and expression, conversations around education, skills, health, safety, and well-being remain incomplete. Moving participation from a surface level to a deeper, meaningful engagement is essential.

“Humko Kehni Apni Baat” creates spaces where adolescent girls can articulate their questions, experiences, reflections, and aspirations—whether related to education, skills, work, relationships, violence, or everyday life. The platform recognises that girls’ perspectives bring new insight into what works, what is missing, and how programmes and opportunities can be shaped more meaningfully for them. Through regular group discussions, collective dialogues, and creative forms of expression such as conversations, recordings, and storytelling, girls share their voices within families, communities, schools, training spaces, workplaces, and public forums. Their voices are also amplified through media such as audio and video, including a series of radio-style episodes that are available as podcasts.

“Humko Kehni Apni Baat” goes beyond expression—it is about being heard. The process strengthens girls’ confidence to speak up for their rights, participate in decision-making, and take charge of their lives. It also creates dialogue between girls and other stakeholders at the community and system level, ensuring that girls’ voices inform programmes, policies, and collective action.
