Holistic Survivor Support
Vishakha currently runs the Mahila salah Evam Suraksha Kendra (Holistic redressal centres ) in four districts of Bikaner, Udaipur, Hanumangarh and Dungarpur in Rajasthan in collaboration with the Department of Women and Child Development, GOR and police department.
The Mahila Salah evam Suraksha Kendras are centres where women facing violence can seek support. Through individual counselling, active mediation, legal intervention where desired and necessary, the centres support women to challenge violence. Through linking the women to a range of support services like medical/psychiatric, safety, short stay, child care, opportunities for work or education there is an endeavor to provide holistic redressal. The centres can be accessed by children and all individuals below 18 years and by adult cis women and transwomen for intervention in any form of violence including domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, sexual abuse, sexual harassment at the workplace and any other.
Vishakha also anchored Aparajita- the One Stop Crisis centre at Jaipur between 2016-17.
Mahila Salah Evam Suraksha Kendras are the result of years of advocacy of the women’s rights activists of Rajasthan and the rich demonstration of running a Holistic redressal centre, first in the Gandhi Nagar Mahila Thana of Jaipur set up by 13 Women’s organisations including Vishakha, followed by MSSKs set up and run by Vishakha in 13 districts of Rajasthan between 2004 to 2011.
13000 women approached and sought support from the MSSKs in 13 districts in this duration. Since 2011 the DWCD of Government of Rajasthan mainstreamed the intervention through investing in it and setting up MSSKs in all 36 districts of Rajasthan in collaboration with local Non Government Organisations.

Many adolescent girls and women live in homes where social norms and patriarchal systems make it hard to feel truly safe. In such spaces, it can be hard to focus on your well-being, learn new skills, spend time with yourself, or study. Sometimes, unsafe or violent situations may also continue.
