Holistic Redressal Center

Adolescents, women, and LGBTQ++ community members often face violence, stress, and conflict due to rigid social norms, patriarchy, caste-based discrimination, and unequal systems. To ensure timely and holistic support in such situations, Hamkadam – Holistic Redressal Center has been set up at Jhallaara Police Station in Salumber district.

This center is a joint initiative of the District Administration, District Police, Department of Women Empowerment, and Vishakha. Since its inception on 15 August 2022, Hamkadam has been providing services rooted in feminist values, trauma-informed care, and restorative justice.

Services at Hamkadam
At Hamkadam, you can access:

  • Counselling & emotional support during experiences of violence, stress, or personal crises.
  • Safe shelter and accommodation in times of emergency.
  • Legal and police-related guidance for cases of violence and harassment.
  • Support in decision-making about safety, relationships, and personal well-being.
  • Encouragement to express yourself freely within families, friendships, and communities.
  • Resources on mental health, sexual health, and rights.
  • Assistance in connecting with government schemes and services.
  • Help in addressing discrimination and violence of any kind, including those carried out in the name of “honour.”

All services at Hamkadam are free of cost. You can either visit the center directly or reach out through the helpline for support.

Hamkadam is a safe and trusted space of solidarity, ensuring that no woman, adolescent girl, or LGBTQ++ community member has to face violence, discrimination, or distress alone.

Vishakha has been working in 75 villages of Salumber and Jhallaara on issues of SRHR, education, gender rights, violence prevention, constitutional values, and mental health. Building on its helpline and counselling work since 2019—strengthened during the COVID-19 pandemic—Hamkadam was initiated in August 2022 in collaboration with the District Administration, Police Department, and Women Empowerment Department.
